Paul Wakefield's journey into visual arts began over four decades ago in a small village in south-east England - London, to be precise. What started with grammar school art classes and weekends spent with a borrowed camera has evolved into a lifelong passion for creating meaningful art.
With a unique background as an electronics engineer, Paul brings an unusual combination of technical precision and artistic sensibility to every drawing. His engineering experience taught him patience, attention to detail, and the importance of quality materials - all essential elements in creating archival-quality artwork.
"Pets aren't just animals - they're family members who deserve to be remembered with the same care and artistry as any human portrait. My goal is to create drawings that capture that special spark, that unique personality that makes your pet irreplaceable."
Paul uses only premium archival quality ink on acid-free paper. This commitment to materials means your portrait will look as stunning in 50 years as it does today, provided it's displayed with reasonable care. These aren't just drawings, they're heirlooms.
The cross-hatch technique Paul employs creates depth, texture, and tonal range that brings each portrait to life. From the softest whisker to the deepest shadow, every element is carefully considered and meticulously rendered. The result is artwork that captures not just the physical likeness, but the soul of your beloved companion.
Every portrait is drawn entirely by hand, no digital shortcuts
Traditional techniques refined over decades of practice
Only archival materials that stand the test of time
