Back in the day, when I was doing a lot of freelance photography, I'd occasionally shoot a wedding for mates and acquaintances. One couple I worked with actually lived on the Crown Estate near Windsor. Yes, that Crown Estate — the one that belonged to the Queen herself. It was all land around Windsor Castle that most locals didn't even know existed, with a little village tucked away for the estate workers.
Shooting a wedding there meant we had an absolutely unbeatable backdrop. At one point, the bride's father suggested we all pile into the back of a Land Rover so he could take us somewhere he reckoned would be ideal. We ended up at a five-bar wooden gate staring out over a massive pasture, and the place was absolutely crawling with deer. I based this drawing on one of the deer I caught lurking in the background of those wedding shots. Not a bad day at the office, really.
