During the same visit to London Zoo where I photographed the lion, I also managed to capture this tiger.
Now, if lions look like royalty, tigers look like the sort of muscle hired to stand silently behind royalty during difficult negotiations.
There’s something unbelievably striking about them. The markings alone seem almost too dramatic to be real, like nature accidentally got a bit carried away showing off.
I always liked the idea of the lion and tiger drawings hanging together as a pair. Two completely different personalities - one calm and regal, the other looking like it could explode into action at any second.
